Participation Eligibility

The program is open to eligible and rising 11th and 12th grade students from various Baltimore City and County magnet schools.  Enrollees are interested in pursuing careers in Allied Health professions, such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Athletic Training.

    Additional Eligibility Requirements:

    • Verified GPA of at least 2.5  on a 4.0 grading scale
    • Recommendation statement from the College Prep or Science Counselor   
    • A well-written paragraph formatted statement about career goals (250-300 word limitation)
    • The application signed by a parent or legal guardian
    • The completed and returned online application 

     

                                    

    What is the duration of the Anatomy Academy?

    The Anatomy Academy is an 8-weekdays (Wed., June 12 thru Fri., June 21) enrichment experience whose daily schedule is:

    • Didactic Review:   9:30a - 12:00p
    • LUNCH:               12:00p -  1:15p
    • Lab Activities:       1:30p -  3:00p
    • Career Advising     3:20p -  4:00p

    What are the benefits of participating in the program?

    After completing the 10-day academy, students will have had  solid learning experiences in basic neuromusculoskeletal human anatomy & physiology, as well as with basic directional terms and frequently used medical terminology prefixes and suffixes.

    This learning experience aims to increase the level of confidence with learning, time management, and focus will help ensure success in biologic science and other high school and higher education core courses.

    It is anticipated, thereafter, that an enrollee's post-baccalaureate application to an accredited Allied Health professional program of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Athletic Training will be competitive and successful for admission to their chosen professional graduate school.

    Morgan State University's 2025 Summer Anatomy Academy for Careers in Healthcare is dedicated to empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals.

    Our program offers a unique opportunity for high school students to gain a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiology, while also preparing them for careers in Allied Health.

    Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and networking opportunities, we aim to provide students with the tools they need to succeed in Undergraduate Allied Health Tracks, then with Professional Graduate School programming.
